feeding time at schoolSupplemental Nutrition: The first outreach ministry offered by the El Shaddai Church in 1994 was a ‘Feeding Centre’ which offered supplemental nutrition for children in the neighbourhood. Building better bodies continues to be the backbone of the El Shaddai Church ministry. With the help of your donations, the community currently provides a meal three times weekly (Mon/Wed/Fri) for the children attending the elementary school.

Elementary School: The 150 plus students here (half of whom are not members of the church) are receiving an excellent education and the 22 staff members have steady employment; all of which helps to raise the overall health and wellbeing of this Port-au-Prince neighbourhood.

Soccer teamSport– In 2006, Daniel Plourde joined the EMAS-Haiti team and brought with him 2 soccer balls purchased by Nadine Plourde’s grade 2 classmates.  Now we bring down 50 to 100 pounds of new and gently used soccer gear each year.

Art: Duvert now has two apprentices helping with the production of his painted metal art work. Duvert is paid fairly and up front for his work, which is then sold here in Canada. All of the profits go back to help with the Elementary School. If you would like to find out more about this art, email: krista@handinhandwithhaiti.org

Future Possibilities:  Developing a Technical Secondary School is the next idea being talked about by the El Shaddai Elders.  They know that Haiti needs trades people and there are a few skilled people in their community…so stay tuned!
